Home Improvments

We have been wanting new lights in our kitchen. We bought one a few weeks ago to try out. Well, it was a little to modern for our decor. So off to Lowe's we went this weekend. We started off by finding the little light to go above the sink on the sale rack. Score!
Then we went to look at what would go with it. When we got home with our finds for the day we put the kids down for naps. Now I don't know about you but doing projects with your spouse can sometimes bring out the worst in people. I am proud to say that not only do the lights work but we got it all done with not one fight! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are a few pics.
The last pic is underneath my kitchen counter. I had three matching wreaths hanging there before. This is my new/redue area. That is a plate rack that was going in the trash because one of the plate holder areas was not welded. I hung it sideways and this is what I have come up with so far. The monogramed dish towel is a gift from a friend because I was one of the hostess for her baby shower. What do you think? I think it needs some silver butterflys or something along that line. If you like making old things new again check out Brassy Apple and ideas from her readers.

Car trip success

Yeah! We made the 6 hour drive to Branson today. And it was a successful trip. I have to thank Brassy Apple for the great tips on her website. I did the time line pictures and put them in order to give my 4 year old something to look forward to along the way. He was in my in-laws car and they said he LOVED that. Watching for the next thing up the road. I also made an I spy book but since Owen can't read we are saving that for the resturants. Mark was good even though it was hard for him to nap. Here is a picture of him. The net bag next to him I filled up with books, coloring books, toys, etc...... Easy for them to reach.

Father's Day

Today was bitter sweet. I have a wonderful husband to help celebrate Father's Day with. I had ordered him some custom Chocolates from my friend Holly. So, to throw him off I made him breakfast and Owen and I took it to him in bed. And then when I got home from church I gave him his chocolates. He loved them. They were Butterfinger crunch and Rice Krispy berry Mini footballs. Owen woke up with a sore throat after running a fever last night so Nathan stayed home with him. Since I teach 1st grade Bible Class I had to go to church. The Bitter part was that Dad and I are still not on the best of terms. I did send him a card but that is all I could get myself to do to celebrate him. Maybe things will be better next year. We will see. The Bridge still needs mending!

But, back to my Husband. He is a great father to our kids. He comes home from a busy day tired and still spends time with them both. Mark screachs with glee when he walks though the door. And before Owen goes to bed each night Nathan lays down with him to share some cartoon time. I am very lucky to have him.

Nature

Well, I was inspired today. We havc been cramped up in this house since I hurt my foot. I read a blog about getting your kids out in nature. So, we got out. Even though Owen didn't get his room clean we just had to be out. It was so nice outside. And all we needed was a sandbox and a water hose. Here is some pictures of our simple fun. I want to encourage you all to get out this weekend!

Going Green

I think my son watches too much TV. The other day he handed me a plastic container and told me to Recycle it! And now he goes around the house turning off the lights telling us to coserve energy. Which I love. There is no need to have a light on if you are not in the room. I guess its a good thing he is getting good messages from TV and not bad ones. We also watched Wall-E yesterday. What a good message of what our world can become. If you are into going green then check out this blog: http://lilmunchkindoodle.blogspot.com/2009/05/green-lunchbags.html. She is starting a "green" line of products for our kids. Thanks,
